MELITTA SS25
Melitta Baumeister’s fashion is seriously superb and crackles with avant-garde élan. Full of sculptural grandeur, poetic surrealism and hard-core conceptualism, she closed NYFW25 with her sassy take on luxury meets street. Melitta’s take on urban gear is filled with dreamy weirdness, gothic zest and visual density that is basically mindblowing!
Soon after graduating from Parsons, Melitta launched her eponymous label and started weaving her way into the city’s fashion scene. The German-born designer closed out New York Fashion Week with her own super-original take on sportswear/punk athleticism with a luxury twist.
In the presentation, Melitta manifests goth-y references and dystopian strategies to shape her aesthetic into sartorial abnormalities. Melitta's inventive take on hats, jerseys, soccer gear/shin guards, and hybrid accessories activates wearable abstractions that are titillating, transcending and alchemical.
One of DSM’s choice brands, Melitta mashes up mystery with intense motion, emotion and frenetic speed. It’s all very post-modern in the best kind of way! Esoteric silhouettes with exaggerated necks and shoulders, along with striking voluminous dresses, are skillfully cut and radically transformed into wearable abstractions.
We are in awe of this collection and deeply admire this alien-freak-fashion outlaw, who continues to generate epic fashion that rages against the machine. Check out the full collection via SHOWSTUDIO and Melitta Baumeister.
