Albert Oehlen dispenses with the rule book altogether. His work is filled with amazing artistic eruptions and sublime chains of abstraction.
Radical and magical, graphic and ecstatic, Albert Oehlen’s work has been called an ‘artistic freedom machine.’ His abstract paintings are amongst the best we’ve ever seen, looking delicious and delirious at once, teeming with chaotic and hypnotic cross-currents that become a pictorial tsunami. Stare into his visceral volcanos and they erupt toward you really hard.
Colliding computer art, Kippenberger, Markus Lüpertz and plenty of rogue elements, Oehlen’s brilliant and brash paintings crackle in carnivorous ways. His brush strokes and digitally-inspired imagery resemble swollen skin after a hornet sting suffused with narcotic hues of purple haze, magenta, acid textures and mutations seen under a microscope.
