PEGGY GOU x OLAFUR ELIASSON

Olafur Eliasson generates entrancing, awe-inspiring optics and majestic moving imagery to create visuals for Peggy Gou's new single "1+1=11," featured on her long-awaited debut album, I Hear You.

The striking album cover showcases Gou as a surreal cyborg beauty wearing the artwork Psychoacoustic Empathy (2023) – a ‘ring of ears’ created by Eliasson.

The frontline creatives unfold their collaborative efforts in three parts: Eliasson's work graces Gou’s striking album cover, he directs a music video where both artists dance and play with mirrors in his studio, and the album’s opening track, "Your Art," showcases Peggy Gou's rendition of Eliasson's poem "Your Planet Seen From Within," originally written for his 2022 TIME magazine cover story.

The collaboration between the Danish-Icelandic artist and the electronic music star was born over lunch in Berlin. As the story goes, Eliasson stood up at a restaurant and showed the South Korean musician Peggy Gou some impromptu moves.

“Sculpture and dance are both non-verbal languages. Sometimes, in order to communicate, you simply have to move,” Eliasson says. “By bringing together dance with colorful shadows, lights, and mirrors, I was able to bring the key interests that have shaped my art into an entirely new context. Working together has been rewarding and a lot of fun!”
