NIGEL COOK - ‘PAINTER’S BEACH CLUB’

art

The multidisciplinary maestro challenges his own odyssey by mashing-up music, meteorology, the apocalypse and memories of growing up by the sea.

Nigle Cooke Painter's Beach Club: Telescope at Jerwood Gallery

Born and bred in Manchester, England, Nigel Cooke has been cooking up some berserk-cool compositions since the naughtiest. Lucky for fans like us, ‘Painter’s Beach Club: Telescope’ just opened at Jerwood Gallery in Hastings (East Sussex) serving up some of Nigel’s most psychotropic works.

The colossal compositions are deeply connected and kinetic, probing the secret pathways and the psychic nooks and crannies that make consciousness so mysterious. The art integrates – often subliminally or surreptitiously – grafti-esque zings, hidden slogans, fractal-like structures and dark cyclotrons of the soul. There is existential oscillation everywhere; Nigel’s technique is epic with an intrinsic velocity, heart-pounding verve and burly swirling scale.

The fierce and phantasmagoric compositions represent the liberated memories of the artist’s early life mixed with homage to his artistic heroes such as Francis Bacon, Diego Velázquez and Francisco Goya. We’re f^*king infatuated with ’s art! Go to now!
